Speaking at an event, Amit Shah said, “Yesterday the Election Commission did ‘doodh ka doodh, aur pani ka pani’ (Yesterday established the difference between truth and falsehood). The formula of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ became significant yesterday. Shindeji received the bow and arrow symbol and the party name ‘Shiv Sena’.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who visited Pune on Saturday, said a day after the Election Commission named the group led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as ‘Shiv Sena’ and ‘Dhanushya-Baan’. The poll panel proved the fact that truth always wins, The Print reported.

The Union Home Minister said that since 2014, India has seen major changes in the governance system. He said that the period 2014-2022 will be written in golden letters in the history of India.

Attacking the previous Congress government, Shah said, “During the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, every minister considered himself the Prime Minister and no minister considered the Prime Minister as the Prime Minister. There was strategic paralysis.” Shah said that zero tolerance policy against terrorism was first formulated in Gujarat.

“Infiltrators and terrorists used to come from Pakistan and decapitate our jawans and insult their severed heads. They used to keep silent at the ‘Darbar’ in Delhi. 12 lakh crore scams and corruption came before the country one after the other. Women are not safe, the country’s borders are not safe,” he said.

Further attacking the Congress government, Shah said, “Prime Ministers are not respected abroad and the country has the least respect. When the Prime Minister went abroad, he would read the speeches he had written for them – sometimes he would read Thailand’s speech in Singapore and vice versa. The country would be insulted.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was present at the event, termed the tenure of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Mahavikas Aghadi government in the state as ‘wasting’.

“2.5 years wasted. Now we have 2.5 years left with us and we have a lot of work to do. Our ‘double horsepower’ government will work with all its strength under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Fadnavis said.

Criticizing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Fadnavis said, “Rahul Gandhi went to Kashmir and hoisted the tricolor. They could not do this during Congress rule because it was only possible when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah abrogated Article 370.

In a major blow to Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday gave the “Shiv Sena” and “Bow and Arrow” symbols to the faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Notably, both factions of the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray) have been fighting over the party’s bow and arrow symbol ever since Shinde (the current Chief Minister of Maharashtra) rebelled against Thackeray last year.

While the Shinde faction welcomed the decision to recognize Shiv Sena as the real Shiv Sena, the Uddhav Thackeray faction said it would approach the Supreme Court.

The Uddhav Thackeray faction accused the Election Commission of haste and said the decision showed it was “acting as an agent of the BJP”.

The commission observed in its order that the present constitution of the Shiv Sena party is undemocratic and has been “perverted to appoint people from a group as office-bearers in an undemocratic manner without holding any elections”. It said such a party structure fails to instill confidence.

Uddhav Thackeray termed the polling committee’s decision as “murder of democracy” and said he would move the Supreme Court against the decision.

Last month, both Shiv Sena factions led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray submitted their written submissions to the Election Commission in support of their claim to control the party’s name and symbol.

The ECI had frozen the bow and arrow symbol of Shiv Sena and gave the ‘two swords and a shield’ symbol to the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena and the ‘Jwalant Mashal’ (Torch) election symbol to the Uddhav Thackeray faction. For the by-election in Andheri East assembly constituency in November last year.
