Welfare : Thane Police has banned ‘Diwali Pahat Program’ on Phadke Road in Dombivali for the second time this year due to Kovid-19 epidemic. (No Diwali pahat on Fadke Road)
Ramnagar police have put up a banner on Phadke Road saying that section 144 has been enforced under which Diwali Pahat event cannot be celebrated and large numbers cannot be collected. The decision was made due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. Violators will be prosecuted, the banner said. (Diwali pahat on Fadke Road)
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) MLA Raju Patil, who has sought permission for the Diwali Pahat program this year, decided to hold the event at Savitribai Phule Hall in Dombivali.
Patil told TOI, “Since the Diwali Pahat event on Phadke Road has been banned by the police, we have decided to hold it in the hall and we would like to appeal to the people of Dombivali to participate in the Diwali Pahat event which will be on an annual schedule. “
The Diwali Pahat event on Phadke Road is famous all over Maharashtra where thousands of young people celebrate Diwali together.
Sachin Gunjal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3, Thane Police, said, “The Thane Police has issued a ban on the Diwali Pahat program only for the entire Thane Commissionerate, including the Phadke Road area, to prevent congestion due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.”
