“Get 25,000 followers on Twitter to contest Lok Sabha”: Senior BJP leader

In this meeting, the BJP has also fixed the mission – 200 MLAs for the Maharashtra state assembly in 2024, while the mission for the Maharashtra Lok Sabha is 45.

During a two-day meeting of the Maharashtra BJP in Nashik led by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP leader asked his party’s elected representatives and leaders to promote the party’s agenda on social media, particularly Twitter, reports Indian Express.

“Opposition parties have now learned the tricks of social media, so if BJP leaders and workers want to stay in BJP, they have to be active on social media to promote the party. This is the need and need of the hour,” said Devendra Fadnavis.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, a senior leader at the meeting said, “We will monitor the social media accounts of all BJP elected representatives and leaders. And this will be a criteria while giving party ticket. Followers of the interested candidates and their influence on social media will also be checked. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier said that a person who wants to contest Lok Sabha should have at least 25,000 followers on Twitter. So we must pull up our socks and work for the party before it is too late.”
