Government should instead take measures to increase income: Satyajit Tambe

Mumbai : MLC Satyajit Tambe, in an eye-catching motion, raised a question on the existing issues related to the old pension scheme, which has been the burning issue of Maharashtra for the past several months.

Thousands of government employees are protesting against the implementation of the new pension scheme and have strong opinions. “The state government needs to take a decision on war footing in its meeting,” Tambe told the conference.

Satyajit Tambe said that governments focus more on increasing prices, instead they should focus on how to increase people’s income more.

“They do nothing to control the revenue and then spend the money on the people of Maharashtra. Nothing will come out of this,” Tambe said.

Tambe said that 16.5 crore people benefit from various pension schemes across the country, of which 84 lakh government employees come under the new or old pension schemes.

“Not only this, the gratuity and family pension initiatives are yet to be implemented in the state. Although the central government has implemented it, Maharashtra has not implemented it. Such small gestures help people and provide enough relief till the problem is resolved,” Tambe added.

Tambe also said that cashless mediclaim should be made for all government employees. “Most of the money received as aid is wasted in rushing to claim the scheme. People do not receive their claim for more than two years.

Tambe also told the Education Minister that there are many questions and concerns of teachers, education staff and educational institutions which need to be addressed.
