Mumbai / Correspondent Rekhatai Thakur, State President, Deprived Bahujan Aghadi, has demanded that the flood situation in the state is critical and the state government should provide relief and rehabilitation work without paper horses.
The state government has failed to deal with the flood situation in the state of Maharashtra. The state’s disaster management policy is ineffective and no effective measures are taken every year. The government and the state’s disaster management department have failed to assess the probable flood situation. Cattle have been washed away or submerged. Due to a single rain, roads and bridges in the state were completely washed away by the floods.
The government should immediately deposit Rs 10 lakh each for the flood victims and Rs 5 lakh financial assistance in their bank accounts. Farmers and traders also need a rehabilitation package.
The government had wiped out the flood victims of last year’s floods, many of whom were deprived of flood relief. Chief ministers and ministers should take to the streets to help the people, not just paper horses, rescue and rehabilitation work should be expedited. Rekhatai Thakur, state president of the Deprived Bahujan Aghadi, has also appealed to the Center to sanction financial assistance from the central government.
