Thanking the Chief Minister for his contribution to the state, the Chief Minister said: “His support to the state government and his contribution to Maharashtra cannot be forgotten. He was thanked on behalf of the government by gifting a bunch of flowers and an image of Lord Ganesha.

Koshyari was accused of hurting sentiments by referring to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as a symbol of the older generations. His remarks against Mahatma and Savitribai Phule also drew his ire. “Savitribai was married when she was ten years old…and her husband (Jyotiba) was 13 years old. Now think, what will the boys and girls be doing after marriage. What would they have been thinking?” Koshyari said while raising laughter at the inauguration of Savitribai Phule’s statue in Pune.
