New DelhiAam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab co-incharge and Delhi MLA Raghav Chadha called Navjot Singh Sidhu “Rakhi Sawant of Punjab politics” over Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s remarks and the Centre’s “controversial” administration. Agricultural laws.
“Rakhi Sawant-Navjyot Singh Sidhu in Punjab politics has been slammed by the Congress High Command for a non-stop statement against Captain (Chief Minister Amarinder Singh). So today, for a change, they have gone after Arvind Kejriwal,” Raghav Chadha tweeted.
The remarks came after the Punjab Congress president took to Twitter to criticize the Delhi government for “masquerading” about the Centre’s controversial agricultural laws.
Reason for comment
Mr Sidhu’s attack on Kejriwal came a day after Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal trained his guns, accusing him, his party and his family of violating agricultural laws.
He slammed Kejriwal and his government in December last year for notifying one of the three laws at the Center and saying the other two were “under scrutiny”.
However, Chadda soon called his tweets “misogynist” and “sexist”. Alka Lamba, once associated with AAP and now with the Congress, tweeted that Chadha’s remarks showed AAP’s attitude towards women and was in line with the RSS’s ideology. Calling it a “demonstration of pathetic politics”, Lamba called it “Sanghi Chadha”.
All India Congress Committee spokesperson Lavanya Balla said the remarks were disgusting, sexist and wrong.
The notification of the law sparked a war of words with Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who accused Kejriwal and AAP of “no shame”. He had retaliated by announcing that Singh had lied and joined hands with the BJP to defame Kejriwal.
