The BJP is planning 11,000 public rallies in February in carpet bombing mode

Elections are due in Telangana at the end of 2023, and the BJP sees itself as a strong possibility to bring about a change from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government led by the ruling K Chandrasekhar Rao in the last state election in 2018, which the BRS won. Out of 119 seats, 88, Congress won 19 and BJP only one.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a mega drive in Telangana next month with plans to hold more than 11,000 public rallies from February, in preparation for the state assembly elections due later in the year. Speaking to ANI, BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh said, “We are in the process of finalizing the schedule of 11,000 rallies in 9,000 Shakti Kendras. By mid-February, we will complete these public meetings addressed by our state and district leaders.

But that’s not all, after this the party is going to hold similar rallies in 119 assemblies. “Sometime at the end of February, we will start the next set of public rallies. These rallies will be addressed by central leaders apart from state leaders,” BJP Telangana in-charge Chugh told ANI.

BJP organized a mega booth meeting on 7 January 2022 and JP Nadda addressed the meeting virtually.
In preparation for the year-end assembly elections, the state leadership has been asked by the Center to rush the appointment of booth committees across the state.

During the run-up to the BJP’s national executive in Hyderabad in late June last year, the BJP had asked its national executive members to go to all constituencies in Telangana for a contact campaign.
The success in the Brihandrabad Municipal Corporation elections has created a major hurdle for the party trying to penetrate the southern part of the country.

The most recent entry into the BJP came from the BRS in October last year when former Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP Bura Narsaiah Goud joined ahead of the Munugode bypoll in Telangana.
Sitting MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy joined BJP from Congress in August last year. However, he was defeated at Munugode.

Etela Rajendra, who served as the first Finance Minister of Telangana state from 2014 to 2018 and Health Minister of Telangana from 2019 to 2021, bid farewell to BRS in June 2021 and joined the BJP. He won the by-election from Huzurabad Assembly Constituency.
